Multiple staff members attacked by inmates at Nebraska prison

LINCOLN, Neb. — According to the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS), an incident unfolded at the Reception and Treatment Center (RTC) yesterday, as three inmates attacked several staff members, resulting in serious injuries.

Five individuals were transported to the hospital after sustaining apparent stab wounds inflicted by manufactured weapons, in addition to being subjected to punches and kicks.

Officials said that preliminary information shows that the involved inmates were allegedly intoxicated and that staff members were giving them instructions when the incident occurred.

Among the seven staff members receiving medical attention, two individuals were injured while responding to the scene but were not physically attacked.

RTC is home to two high-security, maximum-custody units, one of which was the site of the assault. During the incident, three weapons were recovered by authorities.

The Nebraska State Patrol is investigating the incident.
