Seven people were transported to local hospitals following a six-vehicle crash near Doniphan Thursday night.

According to the Hall County Sheriff's Office, just before 7 p.m., deputies were called to the area of Clarice Street and Highway 281 for an injury crash involving six vehicles, which included a semi tractor and trailer.

The sheriff’s office said the first crash occurred when a red Cadillac attempted to turn onto Highway 281 from the Dollar General parking lot and struck a southbound semi. This then caused a chain reaction, deputies said, as it led to additional collisions.

The sheriff’s office said a total of seven individuals were transported to local hospitals for injuries. One of those patients was transported for life-threatening injuries.

The sheriff’s office said weather conditions at the time of the incident were a factor in the crash.

Additionally, during this investigation, the sheriff’s office said, a patrol unit was struck while providing traffic control. The patrol unit sustained major damage but the deputy did not suffer any injuries.
