BURWELL, Neb. (KSNB) - Andrea Horner had grown up around the ‘Pizza Palace in Burwell , eating and working there since childhood.

So when the opportunity came knocking for her to own the restaurant, she jumped at the chance.

“It’s been crazy and exciting and it’s educational,” Horner said. “The thing about the restaurant industry is it teaches you how to always be innovative and come up with new ideas.”

The Pizza Palace is known, obviously for their many delicious pizzas, but also for the atmosphere and good times they offer for folks visiting the Calamus area.

You not only can eat a pie at the restaurant, but there’s a take home option as well.

“We get a lot of traffic for our ‘take and bakes’ because it’s nice on those busy nights for families just to be like ‘Oh I don’t need to cook, I can just grab it out of the freezer.’ You know you’re gonna feed your family a good meal,” explained Horner.

In the 6 years she’s owned the ‘Pizza Palace’, the community support has been tremendous.

“Our community is the best in the state,” Horner said. “We’re really lucky. There’s lots of great communities in the state, but the support that the Calamus area and all the counties around us take care of us. We wouldn’t be where we are today without them.”
