Jon Rosenlund, Emergency Management Director for Grand Island and Hall County said taking steps to prepare, will help improve being self-reliant and how you can weather a storm.
He says stocking up on food and supplies, updating your emergency kits, as well as making sure there's enough fuel in your vehicle are all important.
“The key to preparing is being prepared beforehand, and so instead of having to rush to the store to get things, have those things in your home and in your vehicle well ahead of any storm that may occur,” Rosenlund said.
The Nebraska State Patrol and Nebraska’s Department of Transportation encourage drivers to stay home and off the roads.
