ELM CREEK, Neb. (KSNB) - The Nebraska 511 reported Sunday that Interstate 80 westbound is closed from Kearney to Elm Creek due to a pair of crashes on Sunday, but reopened in the early hours of Monday morning.

The Kearney Police Department said the Nebraska Department of Transportation closed Interstate 80 for westbound traffic at Kearney due to an injury crash at Mile Marker 256 in the eastbound lanes involving three semi trucks. I-80 eastbound was closed at Lexington as well.

KPD said a secondary crash occurred east of Elm Creek near Mile Marker 257.

The Nebraska 511 asks the drivers use an alternate route for the time being. A detour route has been set up on Highway 44 south to Highway 6 and Highway 34 to go west from Kearney.
