Drier and warmer weather for the first half of the week

HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - Today we saw a similar set up as far as showers and pop-up storms were concerned. The activity was more scattered in nature compared to yesterday and affected eastern and central areas as compared to south central and western spots. So, we are seeing the rain fall in places that need it so desperately. This evening shower activity will diminish quickly after sunset. Skies will become mainly clear for most of us. The exception will be southwest areas where clouds will hang on overnight and into tomorrow morning. Lows tonight will range from the mid 50s west to low 60s east.

Tomorrow will be similar to today as far as temperatures and precipitation goes. Sunny skies to start the day with increasing clouds in the afternoon as the sun heats things up. The shower and storm activity tomorrow afternoon will be spotty once again across much of the region. Highs tomorrow will range from the upper 70s west to upper 80s near 90 east. After tomorrow we will experience dry days for both Tuesday and Wednesday with temperatures becoming a little warmer. Highs both days will range from the low 80s west to low 90s east.

Rain chances return starting Thursday afternoon as a back door cold front moves in and stalls across the state. The upper level ridge of high pressure currently over the northern and central plains will break down allowing for a few systems to move through at the end of the week and into the weekend. This will mean better rain chances as we head into Friday, Saturday and Sunday. While it shouldn’t be a washout, you may want to have the rain gear on standby for afternoon and evening outdoor activities. As for any severe weather, the chances look to remain low the next seven days.
