UPDATE: The West Omaha Target has reopened

Omaha, Neb. (KPTM) — UPDATE 2/2/23: The West Omaha Target has reopened, and drive-up services will resume on Friday.

Omaha Police have identified the man who brought a loaded AR-15 to a west Omaha Target on Tuesday as 32-year-old Joseph Jones.

Police say Jones purchased the rifle at Cabela's just four days before firing shots off inside the store.

The officer who shot and killed Jones after confronting him is Brian Vanderheiden, who has served OPD for 20 years and has been place on administrative leave.

OPD also released several surveillance and bodycam photos from inside the store. They show Jones pointing the rifle towards the ceiling and walking around the store before police arrived.

The investigation is ongoing, and Fox 42 will provide further information as it is made available.
