Owner of Camera Doctor in Kearney charged with sexually assaulting child

KEARNEY COUNTY, Neb. — A Kearney businessman faces multiple charges after he allegedly sexually assaulted a 9-year-old girl over the course of five months.

Alan Mais, 61, of Heartwell, is charged in Kearney County Court with nine counts of third-degree sexual assault of a child and one count of child abuse.

Mais is the owner of The Camera Doctor in Kearney.

An affidavit detailing the charges has been sealed, but a complaint outlining the charges says the alleged charges occurred between July 1, 2023 and Nov. 13, 2023.

Mais’ bond has been set at 10% of $300,000. He is scheduled to appear in Kearney County Court for arraignment at 11 a.m. Nov. 16.
