About the border with Mexico
Well, I don’t know what is happening in our Congress and senators allowing this open border. This should have never happened. The president is to be protecting our borders, and our government has not done a damn thing about this. Biden and his administration should all be arrested and prosecuted for their crimes against our country.
Being a disabled veteran — risking my life — and my veteran brothers are not taking this lightly. We feel, again, slapped in the face, just like the veterans from the Vietnam War, who were spit on and treated shameful.
So why are we allowing this. You people in our government do what you are paid for, to keep our country safe. Please, do your job.

A ‘thank you’ from St. Leo’s
Thank you to everyone who dropped off coats for the 19th annual St. Leo’s Catholic Church coat drive. We collected 1,629 coats and were able to give out 1,490 coats to less-fortunate people in our community, leaving only 139 donated to Church of Christ.
Thank you to the drop sites, both Super Savers, U-Save Pharmacy on Webb Road, Hy-Vee, St. Mary’s Cathedral, Resurrection Church and Good Samaritan.
Thank you to John and Kathy Schwieger, Karen Denne, Carmen Moreno and Sheila Fiala for their countless hours of preparation for the coat drive. Thank you to Joyce Yosten, Carolyn Brooks, Carol Turek, Madelene Rose, Sue McDonald and Ann Goetz for repairing numerous coats. Thank you to all who donated coats. And thank you to the many volunteers who helped wash, repair, set up and distribute the coats.
I would like to thank The Grand Island Independent and Local 4 News for the media coverage of the event. Coverage prior to the event is so vital in letting people know where to donate and letting others know how to get the coats they need.
The remaining coats were given to the Church of Christ for its weekly free clothing giveaway.
I believe our community and area own this event and each year we pull together and make winter a lot warmer and easier for numerous people. Thank you again for making this event a success and caring about the welfare of others. We hope you will all consider donating and collecting coats again next year.

World Kindness Day set for Nov. 13
Let’s keep act of kindness active — remember, Grand Island’s Act of Kindness Ladies celebrated during the first week of October.
Nov. 13 is World Kindness Day, so on Monday let’s again do an act of kindness — simple things, such as donating goods to charity, volunteering, holding the door for a stranger, saying thank you.
Let’s keep act of kindness something we do daily.
Let’s continue to be the City of Kindness.

Discussing Israel
After World War I, the Ottoman Turk’s control over Palestine was replaced by a British mandate.
In 1920 the League of Nations allowed for a Jewish state in Palestine, after space was provided for the indigenous Palestinians. After oil was discovered in Saudi-Arabia, support of the British turned toward the Arab states.
In 1947 the United Nations partitioned Palestine into Jewish and Palestinian states, setting May 1948, as the end of the British mandate.
As the British left, Egypt, Lebanon, Syria, Jordan and Iraq attacked Israel. The Israeli’s won.
In 1956 after Egypt sealed off Israel’s access to the Gulf of Aqaba. Again, the Israelis regained the Gulf access.
In 1967 Egypt, Syria and Jordan were at Israel’s borders with stated intentions of attacking Israel. In a pre-emptive attack, Israel took the Golan Heights, Gaza most of the West Bank and East Jerusalem, all in six days and retained the land won.
In 1973 during Yom Kippur, Egypt and Syria attacked Israel in a surprise attack. After weeks of fighting, Israel won and gained the rest of the West Bank and Jerusalem.
Those countries keep the Palestinian refugees in a pathetic economic state to sway the media and western governments away from allowing Israel to destroy terrorists.
After shelling by Hezbollah terrorists, Israel attacked southern Lebanon in 1982. Israel eventually surrounded Beirut. After Israel withdrew, a peacekeeping force of 300 U.S. Marines were killed by a Hezbollah bomb.
In 2005 Israel unilaterally pulled out of the Gaza Strip and allowed Fatah to run it. In 2006 Hamas won elections and kicked out Fatah, with no elections since. Hamas has continually attacked southern Israel from Gaza.
Time to allow Israel to end the terrorism!
