ST. PAUL, Neb. (KSNB) - A St. Libory man goes on trial in July for threatening a sheriff’s deputy.

Jerome Dush, 59, is charged with use of a firearm to commit a felony and terroristic threats. He pleaded not guilty to the charge in Howard County District Court. A trial is scheduled July 10.

Dush is charged in connection with a February incident in which he’s accused of threatening a Howard County deputy sheriff. Court records indicate the deputy was trying to serve a civil summons on Dush at the time. There is no record that any shots were fired or that anyone was injured.

Dush is free on $50,000 bond. Court records also indicate that Dush has hired Omaha attorney Erin Wetzel to represent him.

A conviction for the crime of use of a firearm to commit a felony carries a max penalty of 50 years in prison. The max penalty for terroristic threats is three years in prison.
