Nebraska Wheat Board accepting candidates for District 1 and 6 Director vacancies

The Nebraska Wheat Board is seeking candidates to fill the District 1 and District 6 Board of Directors Vacancies following the current occupants' decision to step down.

According to the Nebraska Wheat Board, they are currently accepting applications through June 30.

The Board announced that the open positions are:

  • District 1 – Includes the counties of Sioux, Scotts Bluff, Dawes, Box Butte, Morrill, Sheridan, and Garden.
  • District 6 – Includes Adams, Webster, Pawnee, Lancaster, Seward, York, Hamilton, Hall, Howard, Merrick, Douglas and Platte, amongst other counties.

NWB said the current directors for both districts, have indicated that they will not seek reappointment.

They said candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Must be citizens of Nebraska
  • Be at least 21 years of age
  • Must have been actively engaged in growing wheat in Nebraska for at least five years
  • Reside in a county in the respective district for which the candidate is applying
  • Derive a substantial portion of income from producing wheat
