Matthew Gleason confirmed as new finance director and city treasurer for Grand Island

The Grand Island City Council now has a new finance director and City treasurer.

Matthew Gleason was approved on Tuesday, April 23 as the city’s next finance director/city treasurer during a council meeting.

The city said Gleason has an extensive background in finance – they say makes him a good fit for the post.

He has been the director of accounting and audit services for Peru State College since 2014.

Gleason spoke to NTV, talking about what it was like after hearing he was approved for the position.

Gleason also said his priority will be to get up to speed with the city and start with the new budget process.

According to the city, he will make more than $129,000 a year.

Gleason is scheduled to take office on May 6.
