Lincoln Police identify man fatally shot outside Russ’s Market
LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - Lincoln Police have identified the man killed in a shooting outside Russ’s Market on Friday.
According to LPD, 20-year-old Ge’Auvieon Crayton was arrested for the fatal shooting of 25-year-old Francisco Javier Alvis that occurred near South Coddington Avenue and West A Street.
On Friday, at 10 p.m., LPD was sent to the area on a report of gunshots and vehicles fleeing the scene. A 25-year-old Lincoln man, later identified as Alvis, was located in the area suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to the hospital, where he died.
During the investigation, LPD interviewed witnesses and reviewed security video from the scene.
Captain Ben Miller said security video showed Alvis meet Crayton in the Russ’s Market parking lot where the two sat in the victim’s pickup truck before Alvis ran from his vehicle. According to witnesses, the victim had met Crayton to deliver marijuana.
LPD said Alvis ran to a maroon Jeep and held onto the driver’s door as it drove away. It’s unclear how long Alvis held onto the Jeep, but he was found by witnesses a little over a mile away near the intersection of West A and South Folsom.
Alvis was found with a fully loaded 9mm handgun that was on safe and had no live rounds in the chamber, LPD said.
LPD said at the time of the shooting, Crayton had exited Alvis’ vehicle and drove off in silver Jeep, the same vehicle he had arrived in.
Crime scene investigators discovered a bullet hole in the driver’s door of Alvis’ truck and determined that a firearm was fired from inside the vehicle towards the driver’s seat.
Investigators found a spent 9mm handgun casing on the pavement outside of the vehicle as well as a single slug consistent with a .40 caliber handgun.
In the investigation, investigators also found a single bullet hole on the driver’s door of the maroon Jeep.

After police identified Crayton as the suspect, he was arrested near the intersection of North 27th Street and Holdrege on Saturday and lodged at the Lancaster County Jail on suspicion of first-degree murder and use of a firearm to commit a felony.
A search warrant conducted at his home found live rounds that matched the calibers found at the scene and a handgun magazine, LPD said.
The investigation remains ongoing. Those with information can call LPD’s non-emergency number at 402-441-6000 or if you would like to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 402-475-3600.
